Now, Your Transfers Are Easier With The International Bank Account Number (Iban)
In line with the Central Bank of Egypt’s decisions, the International Bank Account Number (IBAN) will be applied effective June 30th, 2020. This number ensures a standardized recognition of your account by all banks worldwide for better efficiency of your transfers locally and internationally.
Starting this date June 30th, 2020, IBAN will be requested for your incoming or outgoing transfers in all banks. It should be noted that transfers with the current short bank account numbers will still be accepted until a date that will be set later by the Central Bank of Egypt. Once date is set, you will be notified.

What Is Iban? And What Is Its Importance?
IBAN is your regular bank account number in a developed format and with a standardized way of identifying a bank account, to be recognized by banks & other financial institutions in Egypt and around the world, which reduces errors & delays in performing international transfers.
What Is The Impact Of Iban Application On The Current Bank Accounts?
Your existing account and identification numbers remain valid without any changes. IBAN is just a different electronic format of your account number that will be used only for transfers from & to your account, inside & outside Egypt.
What Is That Format?
IBAN numbers are different in length, depending on the country of origin. That’s because the IBAN adds a standard prefix to a person domestic account number (also known as basic bank account number BBAN).
The structure in Egypt is set to be 29 digits: two characters for country code (EG), Two characters for check digit, Four characters for the Bank Code, Four characters for the Branch Code & Seventeen characters for the currency and customer account number
What Is The Time Of Application And Its Effect On The Customer?
In order to ensure that all your transactions are easily processed, please note that as of 30 June, 2020, to process transfers (either local or international) from and to your account, the IBAN will be required. Banks can still accept transfers with the current account numbers until a date that will be set by the Central Bank of Egypt. Once this date will be set, customers will be notified.

Do I Have To Use The IBAN Number For Transfers Within Credit Agricole Egypt?
- No. You can continue to transfer between one account to the other in Credit Agricole Egypt with the actual account numbers with no change.
Can I Make A Transfer On Banki Mobile, Lite, Online And Business Using IBAN Numbers?
- Yes, you can make easily transfers on banki Mobile, Lite, Online and Business using the IBAN. Just enter the IBAN in the dedicated field.
